Located on a ridge rising steeply above the Kickapoo River in Wisconsin's driftless area. The park offers camping for families, groups and riders with horses. Canoes can be rented in the village of Ontario. Picnic areas, shelters, hiking, cross-country ski, horse riding and nature trails are featured. Observation point is 1200 feet above sea level. Trout fishing in Billings Creek, Cheyenne Creek and the Kickapoo River is popular. Nature building offers displays and information to visitors. Shower building and dump station for all campers are near the family campground. |

From the North: take State Highway 131 south from Interstate Highway 94 near Tomah about 25 miles to Ontario. From Ontario, go east on State Highway 33 for 2 miles. The main entrance to the park will be on your left. From the West: Take State Highway 33 east from La Crosse about 39 miles to Ontario. From Ontario, go east on State Highway 33 for 2 miles. The main entrance to the park will be on your left. From the East: Take State Highway 33 west from Reedsburg about 36 miles to the park. The entrance main entrance to the park will be on your right. From the South: Take State Highway 131 north from US Highway 14 at Readstown about 23 miles to County Highway F. Go right (east) on Highway F about 1.5 miles to State Highway 33. Turn left (west) on Highway 33 and go about .6 mile to the park entrance, which will be on your right. Horse campers: Follow the signs to go directly to Horse Camp (on Taylor Valley Road off Highway 33). Do NOT go in the main park entrance. Coming from Ontario on Highway 33, turn left on Taylor Valley Road before getting to the main park entrance. Coming from the east on Highway 33, turn right on Taylor Valley Road after passing the main park entrance. |

Vehicle admission stickers are required. Horse and Group Camps Open May 1 - November 14 each year. Peace and Quiet in Wisconsin State Parks: Peace and quiet are among the things visitors appreciate most about Wisconsin state parks and forests. To keep the parks and forests quiet, the Department of Natural Resources prohibits operation of any sound truck, loudspeaker, generator, chainsaw, air conditioner or other device that produces excessive, loud or unusual noises without a written permit from the department. Horse Camp: Campers must have horse to book these sites. Horse sites 201 through 204 and 208 through 224 are electrical and cost an extra $5.00 per night. Horse sites 205, 206 & 207 are non electric. Tether poles are provided at each campsite. Please bring your own tethering ropes, as none are available at the park. Please contact the park office for information about the use of fencing or other types of restraining devices. Family and Group Camp = No Horse Campers. Family and Horse Camp = Only 1 wheeled camper unit per campsite. Pets must be leashed (under 8') and attended at all times. WINTER CAMPING: Five walk-in sites are available for winter camping contact the property if you have questions. Group Camp Shelter is to be shared by all three group sites. All sites except Group Camp: Two vehicles permitted per site. Additional vehicles use overflow parking areas nearby. Vehicle admission stickers are required. Click here for cost of the sticker. All Sites: Showers, Dump Station & Flush Toilets CLOSED, Oct. 15 - May 15, each year. To clarify the area of the park you will be in, a letter designation has been added to the site numbers: H for Horse and G for Group. Guidelines if an ADA Situation Situations may occur on a property where generators are normally not allowed and a person may request permission to operate a generator because of a physical or medical need that may be covered under ADA rules. Please contact the property before making a camping reservation or arriving to camp on a same-day campsite arrival (no reservation).
